Johnson Residence
This Old World style home is set on the side of the hill in the desert canyons of east Scottsdale. With the build able area on this a lot a challenge and the linear configuration of the lot the home stretches along the contours of the natural topography which is reminiscent of Old World country estates in the 18th and 19th centuries. The entry vestibule opens to a 20’ high Grand Rotunda from which you have a panoramic view of the pool and the natural landscape beyond. Each space is treated with a distinct special configuration maintaining the Old world separate spatial feeling from the past but still open and visually connected to the surrounding spaces and the open perspective views beyond. Loggias and courtyard unite the rooms with there surroundings and highlight the play of light to rooms beyond. The movement of open spaces invites an experience of both grandeur serenity throughout the house.
